Back in early June we arrived in Michiana which is Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan. The goal was to see friends and work on the motorhome. What was great is that our friends Pete & Nancy got a chance to meet our friends Jim & Linda. We were so happy that we got to spend time with both Pete & Nancy and Jim & Linda. It was a dream come true.
We can’t thank either couple enough; they are so generous. We love both and would do anything for them.
Pete & Nancy are so special. They opened their home & hearts to us. We can’t count how many special nights we had sitting on their porch and talking about life… some of the best nights of our lives. We miss you guys!
Jim & Linda took care of us for 3 weeks while we remodeled and worked on the motorhome. Not only did they host us but drove us around every single day to RV supply and salvage yards, amish craftsmen and always managed to make a sightseeing tour which Yami & I loved. They showed us such love… we miss them every day.
While we were with at Jim & Linda’s we removed a TV and turned the space into a cabinet, removed another TV and installed a flatscreen and blueray player, installed a new microwave, replaced our couch and chair, removed wallpaper, replaced 4 batteries, had the cooling unit in the refrigerator replaced, installed new lighting, built a cat litter box solution, had the dinette cushions rebuilt then washed, buffed & waxed the exterior. This would have taken us 6 weeks without their help. They knew where to take us for parts and who to ask for help. When it came to getting anything done Jim had friends and family all lined up to help us. And on top of it all they feed us like crazy… I’m still working off all the wonderful food.
Jim and Linda were the first people I called when we came up with the idea of traveling for a year. I knew they would not only be excited for us but would be able to offer us the help we needed to determine what to buy and how to travel. Jim prepared me for our first phone call by telling me to call him in the morning and to be ready with my computer, pen and paper. Our first phone call lasted 3 and a half hours. He told me he was going to teach me about engines, frames, wall construction, transmissions, floor plans, slideouts, manufacturers and models…. AND he did. Linda helped by talking about storage, floor plans and the issues many of their friends had experienced with different types of RV’s. I called Yami as soon as I got done talking with them and told her what I had just learned. I explained it could have taken me years to learn this volume of information. To understand what Jim & Linda know not only took them years of travel & RV ownership but trips to the actual manufacturing facilities. Jim & Linda’s passion for finding a quality product should NEVER be underestimated.
I had many many calls with Jim after that. I would send him emails with links to the motorhomes I was finding and he would tell me how he was up until 1:00 am researching potential units for us. Even with all this information Jim was quick to tell me to not just choose what they had; instead they wanted us to take our knowledge and shop for ourselves. Eventually Yami and I picked a model very close to what they own, made by the same company. Jim was right about all the mechanicals and Linda was right on the model. Together they could have shopped for us and picked exactly what we ended up with. This goes to say that Jim & Linda could be the best motorhome consults you can find.
Yami took to Jim and Linda instantly and learned so much from them. We took away so many good memories. They gave of themselves like no others and we love them dearly.
All I can say is that our 4 friends in Michiana mean the world to us and we can never repay you guys for being in our lives.

Yami Zen Gardening while we all watch
A principios de junio llegamos a Michiana que es el norte de Indiana y Michigan. El objetivo era ver a los amigos y trabajar en la casa mobil. Lo padre es que nuestros amigos Pete y Nancy tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer a nuestros amigos Jim y Linda. Estábamos tan contentos de que nos dio tiempo de pasar con ambos Pete y Nancy y Jim y Linda.
No podemos agradecer lo suficiente ya ambas parejas, son tan generosos. Nos queremos mucho y haríamos cualquier cosa por ellos.
Pete y Nancy son tan especiales. Ellos nos abrieron su casa y corazón. Son incontables las noches especiales que pasamos en su porche y hablando de la vida … algunas de las mejores noches de nuestras vidas. Los extaniamos!
Jim y Linda se encargaron de nosotros por 3 semanas mientras remodelabamos y trabajabamos en la casa mobil. No sólo fueron nuestors anfitriónes, pero nos llevaron diariamente a lugares que vendian cosas de RVs baratas, artesanos amish y siempre se las arreglaron para hacer un recorrido turístico que a Yami y a mi nos encantaron. Ellos nos mostraron tanto amor … Los extrañamos todos los días.
Mientras estábamos Jim y Linda sacamos un televisor y convirtiendo el espacio en un gabinete, sacamos otro televisor e instalamos una pantalla plana y blueray, instalamos un nuevo horno de microondas, reemplazamos nuestro sofá y una silla, quitamos papel tapiz, reemplazamos 4 pilas, remplazamos la unidad de refrigeración en el refrigerador, instalamos lamparas nuevas, construimos una alternativa para que el gato fuera al banio, retapizamos los cogines del comedor, pulimos y enceramos el exterior. Esto nos hubiera tomado seis semanas sin su ayuda. Sabían a dónde nos llevarnos por las partes y a quien pedir ayuda. Cuando se trataba de conseguir algo hecho Jim tenía amigos y familiares todos en fila para que nos ayudaran. Y encima de él todo nos dieron de comer mil cosas … Todavía estoy tratando de perder el peso de esa comida tan rica.
Jim y Linda fueron las primeras personas a las que llamamos cuando se nos ocurrió la idea de viajar durante un año. Yo sabía que no sólo estaría contento por nosotros, pero sería capaz de ofrecer la ayuda que necesitábamos para determinar qué comprar y cómo viajar. Jim me preparó para nuestra primera llamada de teléfono diciendo que lo llame por la mañana y que estuviera listo con mi computadora, lápiz y papel. Nuestra primera conversación telefónica duró 3 horas y media. Me dijo que me iba a enseñar acerca de los motores, marcos, construcción de paredes, las transmisiones, disenios de espacios, slideouts, fabricantes y modelos …. Y lo hizo. Linda ayudó al hablar sobre disenios de espacios, y los temas que muchos de sus amigos había experimentado con diferentes tipos de vehículos recreativos. Llamé a Yami tan pronto como termine de hablar con ellos y le dije lo que acababa de aprender. Le expliqué que podía haber tardado años en aprender este volumen de información. Para entender lo que Jim y Linda saben los llevó años viajes y ser propietarios de su propia RV, pero los viajes a las instalaciones de las fabricas y la pasión de Jim y Linda para encontrar un producto de calidad nunca debe ser subestimado.
Tuve muchas llamadas de muchas de ellas con Jim después de eso. Yo le envíe correos electrónicos con enlaces a las casas mobiles que encontraba y me decía cómo se quedaba hasta la 1:00 am hasta la investigación de las unidades posibles para nosotros. Incluso con toda esta información Jim se apresuró a decirme que no sólo elegir lo que ellos habian comprado, sino que querían darnos conocimiento y comprar por nosotros mismos. Con el tiempo Yami y yo elegimos un modelo muy cercano a lo que ellos tienen hecha por la misma empresa. Jim estaba en lo cierto acerca de todos los mecánicos y Linda estaba en lo cierto en el modelo. Juntos podrían haber comprado por nosotro. Jim y Linda podrían sel los mejores consultores para la compra de casas mobiles.
Yami se llevo muy bien con Jim y Linda al instante y aprendio mucho de ellos. Nos quedamos con muchos buenos recuerdos. Dieron de ellos lo mejor que tenian y los queremos mucho.
Todo lo que puedo decir es que nuestros cuatro amigos en Michiana significan el mundo para nosotros y que nunca podremos pagar a ustedes por estar en nuestras vidas.
